Abstract:
Software Defined Networking (SDN) leverages software abstraction between the network control plane and underlying data plane to eliminate the complex nature of legacy distributed network architecture. Various SDN solutions have been widely deployed in campus networks, datacenters and wide area networks. In this talk, we will review the history of SDN, explain the key driving forces that shape today's SDN industry, discuss the pros and cons of different SDN technologies and explore the research opportunities around this area.
Short bio:
Dr. Xin Wu is a member of technical staff at Big Switch Networks. Before joining Big Switch Networks, he worked at Microsoft automating Azure datacenter management. Xin Wu received his B.A. and M.A. from Tsinghua University and Ph.D from Duke University. He is a core member of Floodlight SDN controller.
