Talk 1: Creating an Active Learning Laboratory
Abstract:
In this talk, I will describe the creation of the Active Learning Laboratory in the School of Computer Science and Informatics in UCD. I will give some background to the creation of the lab, including the motivation and examples of such labs elsewhere. I will also give our experiences with the laboratory and indicate successes and pitfalls in using such a laboratory.

Abstract:
In this talk, I will give an description of the research carried out in the School of Computer Science and Informatics in UCD. I will give an overview of the School and its activites and describe some of the School's bigger research projects. I will also give a summary of the School's involvement in some of the text retrieval conferences, including TREC and TAC.
